Circle of Wisdom Indigenous Elders & Seniors Support Worker
Full Time Regular Position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week)

Key Role & Responsibilities
Indigenous Elders Wellness and In-home Worker
- Support growth and development creating programs to help support health, access to proper health information and bridge gaps in healing.
- Empowering our elders/seniors with information on their own health. Supporting them to navigate health systems and any other support to live a healthier life
- Workshops for elders to teach Children and youth a traditional way of life through learning culture
- Supporting our elders in community and giving back to community
- Support seniors transitioning into elders (elders consult), Space to understand what a true elder is.
- Creating space for ceremony and for true understanding prayers and ceremony are essential
- Information sessions to support Elders/seniors, creating safe environments so our seniors/elders can learn things they need to know when they turn 65, when they need to access health benefits and bringing those supports and information.
- Indigenous Elders Senior Support Worker providing System Navigation and case management with supported referrals
- Provide Opportunities for Traditional Ceremony and teachings with local Elders
- Works with a variety of agencies and systems to review referrals and identify risks for the elderly
- Participates in community engagement, awareness, and capacity building particularly in elder social issues.
- Retains required program statistics, outcome data and information necessary for annual mid-term, year-end reports.

Knowledge and Core Skills
Indigenous Elder and Senior Support Worker
Indigenous Elders Senior Support Worker will demonstrate the following core competencies and experience:
- Knowledge in Indigenous culture and ways of knowing.
- Experience and success working with Indigenous communities.
- Fluency in an Indigenous language would be an asset.
- Relevant and demonstrable experience in project coordination, with a track record of successful delivery and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and drive engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, with particular focus on Indigenous Elders and seniors.
- Strong leadership potential, with formal or informal experience.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including aptitude for public speaking, building and delivering presentations to Indigenous Elders and Seniors. Community and facilitating large group sessions.
- Proficiency coordinating through virtual platforms (i.e.Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.).
- Excellent administration and organizational skills, able to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and databases, including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Able to work as a team player in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively; use of communication for motivation, planning and problem solving
Experience
Indigenous Elder and Senior Support Worker
- University Degree in related field; or a combination of Education and relevant experience
- Driver license, vehicle.
